When I first unboxed the palette, my heart literally skipped a beat, I kid you not. The packaging is absolutely gorgeous; the palette comes in a baby pink box with Anastasia Beverly Hills engraved in the classic gold Italic font. When you take the palette out of the box, the texture of the actual container is velvet. I was super surprised and pleased at the same time as it just added to the luxury factor. There is a con with the packaging though, since it is velvet (and a light pink too) it'll get dirty a lot quicker. Something else that I adore is that the palette comes with a medium sized rectangular mirror - perfect for on the go or when traveling.
The palette contains fourteen warm tones. As said on the back of the palette "An essential eye shadow collection featuring 14 shades, including neutral and berry tones. Use Anastasia Beverly Hills first permanent palette, Modern Renaissance to create endless looks for daytime and evening." I definitely love that the palette has neutrals in it, and also variation in finishes as there are 3 shimmer shades and 11 matte colours.
I love that the colours are named after renaissance paintings and artists, so clever! The eyeshadows are also incredibly pigmented. I've used this palette three times now and let me tell you, for colours that are so pigmented, they're super easy to blend. I like the variety, from light browns to berry reds. The fact that the majority of the colours are matte is a huge plus for me, as I've been wanting to get a matte neutral palette for a while now. In my opinion, this is the perfect palette for autumn.
Top Row: Tempura, Golden Ochre, Veremeer, Buon Fresco, Antique Bronze, Love Letter, Cyprus Umber
Bottom Row: Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera, Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Warm Taupe, Realgar
The Modern Renaissance Palette comes with a pretty dual-sided eyeshadow brush. One side is fluffy and excellent for blending whilst the other end is good for lid application. I think this was great to include and perhaps also a sneak peak into the new ABH brush line!
I adore this palette. I love the beautiful shadows and the fluffy double sided eyeshadow brush. The only con for me would be the velvety texture that covers the palette because it could get stained or dirty very quickly. Since this is the very first (and permanent) ABH eyeshadow palette, there is no rush in purchasing one. I purchased mine for 54,95 euros (delivery included) and I think it's worth every cent.
What do you think about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette? Is it something you'd purchase? Let me know in the comments!
